Library Organizer

Privacy Policy

For Library Organizer, on the Mac and the iPhone. Effective 19 October 2026.

In short

We do not collect any information about you or your books. There is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. Your library stays on your own devices and, if you choose, in your own iCloud.

Your library

Your books, bookcases, subjects and plans are kept in a library file that you choose. It stays on your Mac, or, if you keep it in iCloud Drive, in your own iCloud account, where Apple stores it under Apple's privacy policy. We never receive a copy. Backups the apps make are kept beside the file or in the app's own folder on your device.

Looking up a book

Only if you allow it, when you scan or enter a book's ISBN, the apps send that ISBN, and nothing else, to Open Library and, if needed, the Library of Congress, to find the title and author. Like any website, those services can see your device's internet address when they answer. You can turn lookups off at any time with the "Look up titles online" switch (on the Mac in the Scan window, on the iPhone in Settings); the apps then work without them.

The camera

The camera is used only to read a book's barcode and, if you choose, to take a photo of its cover. Barcode pictures and cover photos are saved in folders beside your library file, so they are in iCloud Drive only if your library is. They are never sent to us or to anyone else.

The Mac and iPhone link

If you pair your iPhone with your Mac, the two apps exchange scans and a summary of your library directly over your own Wi-Fi network, encrypted with a key made when you paired them. Nothing goes through the internet or to us.

Problem reports

Help › Report a Problem saves a report as files on your Mac. It is not sent anywhere; you decide whether to share it.

Children

The apps do not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Deleting your information

Because we hold nothing, there is nothing to ask us to delete. To remove your library, delete the library file (and its backups) from your Mac or iCloud Drive, and delete the apps.

Changes

If the apps ever start handling information differently, this page will be updated first, with a new date at the top.
